How to set up WeChat Pay

There are five steps to set up WeChat Pay and here they are:

Step 1

You first have to go into WeChat and then click on the “Me” button that is located at the bottom right of your tab. Then, you have to click on the “Wallet” button that is located on the top and colored in green. You have to click this in order to proceed as the next step is the big step; adding your card.

Step 2

After you have done that, you reach the major step, that is adding your card. You can choose from a set of international cards like MasterCard or Visa. You can also choose from a bunch of Chinese cards.

Step 3

Now that you have completed the previous step, you have to add all your card information. If you are using a Chinese card, you will only have to fill out a few details whereas if you after using an international card, you will have to fill out all the information that is associated with your card.

Step 4

You now have to set up your password. Make sure that it is unique and not easily crackable. This password will be asked in order to keep all your information safe and secure. You then have to enable the QR codes. You can do this in order for fast payments. Refer to the WeChat Pay fast payment description given below step 5 to know what they are and how to use them.

Step 5

Now that you have finished all the steps, you just have to try it out now. Below are all the information given to make payments via your desktop, in-app payment, payments inside of WeChat or fast payments.

In-app payment

In-app payments are those kinds of payments in which you can pay through the app in your mobile. To start accepting WeChat Pay transactions on your mobile, you can use your existing Android Drop-in or Component integration, or build the integration yourself using WeChat mobile SDKs (Software Development Kit).

To make a payment using this, you should first go to your cart. It will then display your cart with all the things that you have added to buy through your merchants app. After you click the pay or checkout button, a drop-up box will appear with a few payment options such as WeChat Pay.

After you have clicked on the button, it will ask you for your password which you have to enter to continue paying with WeChat. Then that’s it, your payment is done.

WeChat Payment inside WeChat

To use WeChat Pay for WeChat, you first have to shop inside WeChat. You have to go inside the merchant’s WeChat Pay account and select an item to add it to the cart and pay. You will then be redirected to the official WeChat Pay official app where your current transaction details will be provided. At the bottom, a confirm payment button will be provided. You have to click on that. You then have to confirm that payment with either your password or your touch ID. Then that’s it. The payment is done and successfully sent to your merchants account.

Desktop payment 

WeChat desktop payment is mainly used by websites who want their merchants to pay. A QR code will be displayed on the website and the customer has to scan the QR code shown with their WeChat Pay app. Then what happens is that the info and payment description will be displayed on the app. Then you have to click on the pay button. After that, you have to enter your 6 digit pin to confirm that you are trying to make a payment. Then that’s it, your payment is done. You will be displayed with all the payment info such as date and time and amount transacted in Chinese yuan ¥. You can then present to the shopkeeper or the person who you have sent it to, to confirm that you have finished the payment.

WeChat Fast payment

WeChat Pay fast payments are used for sending money quickly. All that is needed to be done, is to present a QR code which is to be scanned for money to be transacted. This type of payment is mostly recommended in places like stores or malls. It is mostly recommended there because there will usually be a long queue in these kinds of places. This function is only available for corporate accounts, service accounts, government accounts and media accounts. 

When a person has finished shopping, all he has to do is present a QR code from the WeChat wallet. You don’t have to worry about the payment as it will be processed automatically. After the payment is finished, a notification will be sent to you saying that the payment has successfully been made.

Official accounts

These official accounts are for the organisations. These accounts are used to promote brands to millions of users. For example, you can think of the twitter accounts that have a tick symbol next to them. These are verified accounts. WeChat official accounts are too just like that. These accounts are for big companies, huge organizations, governments etc. WeChat official account is an essential way to reach customers for merchants. Remember that you need to have an official account in order to apply for WeChat Pay.
