What is PayTM ?

Paytm is India’s largest mobile payment system and every day millions of people use this platform to transfer money. Due to this lockdown, Paytm and other digital wallets have enjoyed tremendous growth.

Paytm claims to have over 150 million users, making it the biggest online payments platform in the country and 39 million daily active users which is more than the combined daily active users of Google Pay and Paytm. Paytm stands for Pay through Mobile.

Features of Paytm

Paytm accepts various modes of transaction

Paytm accepts various modes of transaction. It does not force you to use Paytm or its related products for making transactions. Paytm lets customers pay in six different ways. These are;

  • Web Banking
  • Bank Cards (Credit or Debit)
  • Emi option from cards
  • UPI
  • Paytm Wallet
  • Pay through Mobile Postpaid services where you  provide digital credit services to users, and it allows you to make transactions digitally.

Paytm (Pay through Mobile) has exciting offers and discounts

One great thing that Paytm offers are discounts. They give out discount coupons to bring back old customers. Discounts are something everybody uses, especially when you want people to buy a certain product. Anytime you tell a customer that he can save money, you’re likely to get his attention. Discounts don’t only help your shoppers but they also help your business.

Paytm gives out new cashback offers to promote its recently launched Bank feature. The company is giving a cashback of up to Rs 100 on using the Bank Transfers feature in the app.

Paytm digital gold

Through this wallet, you can buy digital gold. This feature has started and been at use since April 2015. Gold al also available from as low as Rs. 1 or 0.0001 grams. MMTC-PAMP India Pvt. Ltd. is the seller of the digital gold in paytm, it is a joint venture of two companies – MMTC Limited (India) and PAMP (Switzerland).

How to buy Paytm’s digital gold?

Here are the steps to buy Paytm’s digital gold through the app;

  • Go to the app and log in.
  • Scroll to the ‘Recharge and Pay for’ menu.
  • Click the Gold option.
  • If this is the first time you have used this feature, it will show an information page. 
  • Tap on proceed if this page comes.
  • In this menu, there will be two tabs, i.e. “Buy gold” and “Sell/delivery”.
  • Click the “Buy gold” tab. To sell gold, go to the “Sell/delivery” tab
  • In the “Buy gold” tab you can see the current gold price and gold balance.
  • There will be two options – Buy in grams and buy in rupees. 
  • You must click the one you prefer. 
  • You will then have to enter your amount (min Rs. 1 and no decimals) or the weight of the gold, your name and your pincode. 
  • If Paytm delivers gold at your location, the proceed button will be activated. Otherwise, you cannot proceed and buy gold.
  • After clicking the proceed button, you will see your name, pin code along with the price/weight of the gold. 
  • You should click proceed to pay to purchase.
  • Then, select your payment method, your paytm wallet or other methods.
  • After you have purchased the gold, it will be added to your gold balance and you will receive a confirmation message.

Here are the steps to buy Paytm’s digital gold through the website;

  1. Visit Paytm.com.
  2. Tap on the gold option.
  3. Select whether you want to buy in rupees or grams.
  4. Enter the weight of the gold or the amount along with your name and pin code. If Paytm delivers gold at your location, the proceed button will be activated. Click the proceed button
  5. Then log in.
  6. After clicking the proceed button, you can see the weight/price of your gold. Tap on the Proceed tab for making the payment.
  7. Here you can choose your preferred payment method and complete the paymentment.  
  8. Paytm digital gold will then be added to your gold balance. You will receive a confirmation mail on your email.

How to send money via Paytm in 2 easy methods

You can send money to friends or relatives in a couple of easy steps using 2 different methods .

Method 1

Send money by scanning the QR code in 2 steps.

  • Open the app and scan the Paytm QR code.
  • Enter the amount.

Then that’s it, your money is successfully transferred to the required person.

Method 2

Send money by using the Mobile Number in 2 steps.

  • Open the Pay through Mobile app and tap on ‘Mobile No.’
  • Enter the required mobile number or select from your contacts by pressing the icon on the right.
  • Enter the required amount and tap on the ‘Send Money’ icon

Then that’s it, your money is successfully transferred to the required person.

You can view your balance and transactions by tapping the icon of a book which has the word ‘Passbook’ written under it.
